Australia women retain the Ashes as their stellar efforts drew the one-off test. Ellyse Perry was the star of the game as she completely dominated the English women with her all-round abilities.
Though rain played a spoilsport on the second day of the game, the Southern Stars were unfazed by the happenings and
continued their brilliance on the field.
After posting a total of 430/9 the Australians declared the things, thanks to Ellyse Perry”s one of the finest centuries. Other players contributed well with the bat thus helping to post a competitive total on the board.
However, the hosts weren”t able to tackle the bowling of the visitors. They stood at 275/9 before a declaration, Aussies batted throughout as they drew at 230/7 by the end of day 4.
Australia women are at the top of the tournament as the points table now reads 8-2. All three ODI games were won by them as they haven”t given any chance for the hosts to rise up. England can still try to draw the series if they win all three T20Is which are beginning on the 26th of July.
Ellyse Perry was named the player of the game as she amassed 192 runs in both innings combined and a wicket in her bag. All the focus will now rest on the three-match T20 series and how the English women would fight back after being outplayed previously.
This series has been a forgettable one of the hosts as they weren”t as menacing as they used to be. Can they bounce back in the T20I series and exhibit the same dominance shown in the series against West Indies women?
This certainly only time will tell.
