Kane Williamson hasn’t had a great outing with the bat in this edition of the T20 World Cup. In this edition of the showpiece T20 event, he has scored 178 runs in five innings which includes one half-century against Ireland. He has been striking at 116.34.
Opting to bat first at the Sydney Cricket Ground, The Kiwis never got going with the bat. They lost dangerous-looking Fin Allen in the first over of the match. Devon Conway and Kane Williamson added 34 runs for the second wicket but never got going.
The Blackcaps skipper struggled to find boundaries at regular intervals and eventually was dismissed by Shaheen Afridi. He scored 46 runs off 42 balls at a strike rate of 109.52, consisting of one four and as many six.

The pace at which he has scored runs has been a cause of concern for the team as well as been a subject of criticism for many. Williamson hasn’t been batting fluently and is far from his best. Even in the game versus England, he batted at a run-a-ball. Many fans and retired cricketers have blamed him for that loss versus them.

The Kiwis ended up with a score of 152-4. Daryl Mitchell brought his 3rd T20I half-century at a strike rate of 151.43 which consisted of three fours and a maximum. This is Mitchell’s second half-century in the T20 World Cup. His previous fifty came against England in the semi-final in the previous edition of the world cup.
Pakistan has begun their chase. Devon Conway dropped the out-of-form, Babar Azam, on his first ball in the first over bowled by Trent Boult. Muhammad Rizwan has gotten off to a start as well as brought up the fifty-opening stand between the two openers. Both the openers have gotten start and are on track to chase down this target set by the Kiwis.
