The BCCI announced two replacements as Ravindra Jadeja and Yash Dayal have been ruled out of the India ODI series against Bangladesh starting from 4th December 2022.

Star-all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has not fully recovered from the injury that he received during the 2022 Asia Cup played in the United Arab Emirates. He had knee surgery and did not take part in the prestigious T20 World Cup. Shahbaz Ahmed made his ODI debut during the home ODI series against South Africa played in October this year. He did not get much chance to bat.

Jadeja has been at the National Cricket Academy as a part of rehabilitation but could not fully recover from his injury. Shahbaz Ahmed has been named his replacement and plays a key role in the ODI series against Bangladesh on pitches that might help the spinners.

Gujarat Titans bowler Yash Dayal was named for the ODI series before but to a lower back injury, the left-arm pacer has been ruled out. Kuldeep Sen who did well for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2022 will replace Yash Dayal for the 3-match ODI series starting from 4th December onwards.

The first ODI will be played on 4th December, followed by the 7th and the final ODI match to be played on 10th December 2022. The third ODI has been shifted to Chattorgam as the country’s opposition has announced plans to protest the march.

Rohit Sharma will lead Team India in the series

Shahbaz Ahmed has been in great form for Bengal during the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. He picked a total of 11 wickets from 6 matches at an economy of 4.87 runs per over. Ahmed contributed two vital half-centuries coming lower down the order.

Kuldeep Sen is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament after the Group stage ended on 23 November 2022. He has grabbed 18 wickets in six games with best figures of 5 for 36 against Punjab.

Ravindra Jadeja has struggled with his knee injury missing major matches including the West Indies tour and the T20 World Cup played in Australia. The all-rounder played two matches in the Group Stage of Asia Cup 2022 before hurting his knee and missing the entire competition.

The Indian team would be looking for Shahbaz Ahmed and Kuldeep Sen to make a mark against Bangladesh if given a chance in playing XI.
