Assam stunned Jammu and Kashmir in the third quarter-final of the Vijay Hazare Trophy tournament played at Gujarat College Ground, Ahmedabad on 28 November 2022. Riyan Parag produced a special knock of 174 off 116 balls with 12 fours and 12 sixes to help Assam chase down a massive target off 351.
Assam captain Kunal Saika won the toss and decided to field first. Jammu and Kashmir openers Vivrant Sharma and Shubham Khujaria provided a flying start with 72 runs opening partnership laying a strong foundation for a big total. Khujaria and Henan Nazir kept the pressure on Assam bowlers not allowing them to settle.
Khajuria and Nazir added 129 runs for the second wicket. Jammu and Kashmir lost 3 quick wickets to be reduced to 212 for 4. Fazil Rashid and Nazir added important runs as J and K posted a massive total of 350 for 7 in 50 overs. Fazil scored 53 off 46 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes. Khajuria made 120 off 84 balls with 8 fours and 8 sixes while Nazir made 124 off 113 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.

Chasing 351 runs to win, Assam captain Kunal Saika provided a flying start putting pressure on J and K bowlers. Riyan Parag looked in sensational touch with attacking shots keeping the momentum going for Assam. The stylish right-handed batter showed his class by hitting boundaries at will and making sure that Assam was on the course for a famous win.
Parag was eventually dismissed for 174 off 116 balls with 12 fours and 12 sixes at a strike rate of 150.00. Rishav Das and Saahil Jain ensured that Assam reach the massive target of 351 runs with ease. Assam won the match by 7 wickets with 23 balls to spare.
