Veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been ruled out of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand. The series will get underway at the Shere Bangla Stadium in Dhaka on Sunday, December 4.
Shami had suffered the injury during a training session after he returned from Australia, where the Indian team made a semi-final exit from the T20 World Cup, losing to England by 10 wickets. The extent of Shami’s injury is not known yet.
“Mohammed Shami has suffered a hand injury that he sustained after resuming training post T20 World Cup in Australia. He has been asked to report at the NCA, and has not travelled with the team on December 1,” a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Mohammed Shami is currently under the supervision of the BCCI Medical Team at the NCA, Bengaluru and will not be able to take part in the three-match series.
Shami is an integral part of India’s ODI squad, going into the World Cup at home next year. Apart from Shami, ace all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja had already been ruled out of the ODIs since he was yet to recover from a knee surgery he had in September.
