G Periyaswamy had been a sensation in the recently concluded Tamilnadu Premier League. His presence reaped rewards for his side Chepauk Super Gillies, who were crowned the champions this season. The five-wicket haul by him against Dindigul dragons in the final game was enough to capture public attention.
The official TNPL handle posted a video that gave a glimpse of his cricketing career. Periyaswamy shared his experience on the hassles he faced to become a better bowler over the years. He said that he used to practice using tennis balls in his young days. He also revealed that his eye-sight being a problem, a lot of people ignored him in matches but his confidence hadn”t diverted him from the tracks.
G Periyaswamy also explained the role played by T Natrajan in tuning his career. He had huge praise for him as his words motivated to give his best on the field. He even said that Natrajan was the one who gave him the shoes for the tournament.
Much-spoken for his Sling
Periyaswamy had been the show-stealer in this edition of the league. His action resembled that of Lasith Malinga and this became a talking point in this TNPL. He picked over 21 wickets this season and bagged the player of the tournament award.
There are emotional stories. There are inspiring stories. And then there are stories like these. May this be just a beginning of greater things to come for our Man of the Tournament, G Periyasamy. #NammaPasangaNammaGethu #TNPL2019 pic.twitter.com/fSGmPmpbjd

It will be interesting if he could attract any IPL franchise for the next edition. N Jagadeesan and Washington Sundar are a couple of players who earned IPL contracts through their performances in TNPL. Can the next edition of IPL add a flavor to the life of Periyaswamy? Only time will tell.
