Lance Morris Likely To Replace Injured Mitchell Starc For Sydney Test

With the series already won, Australia is hoping to unleash youthful speedster, Lance Morris, against the Proteas at the SCG. Australia thrashed South Africa in the second Test at the MCG to earn a stunning series triumph. Prior to the three-match series, the youthful player was added to the Australian team as a replacement for veteran pacer Mithcell Starc.

The fact that Lance Morris was called up to the national squad was no accident given his stellar performance on the local circuit where he rattled opposing hitters with his lightning pace. Morris will probably make his big debut in the next series decider at the SCG due to the injuries suffered by Cameron Green and Mitchell Starc in the second Test.

“It’s honestly a whirlwind. It’s kind of hard to wrap my head around and there’s a little bit of nervous energy, but I guess that means something exciting could happen. I’m looking at it that way,” Morris said before flying from Melbourne to Sydney with the squad on Saturday.

“I was seriously impressed watching the last Test” – Lance Morris

The young man, known as “Wild Thing” because of his blistering pace, was awed by Anrich Nortje’s scorching bowling performance during the second Test at the MCG. He praised it as one of the best bowling displays in recent memory. Although he conceded that Nortje might be a little faster than him right now, he is looking forward to a fight with the Protean pace merchant.

“That’d be nice. I think he’s probably got me at the moment, but that’s definitely something to strive to. I was seriously impressed watching the last Test. I honestly would say that’s probably one of the better spells of bowling I’ve seen just taking into consideration the conditions. It was 37 degrees, or something like that, and he was averaging over 150, so it was pretty impressive,” he added.
