Sachin Tendulkar Pays Tribute to Don Bradman On His 111th Birth Anniversary

There is certainly no doubt about the fact that Sir Don Bradman remains the undisputed king of cricket and just yesterday the legendary cricketer completed his 111th birth anniversary. On this day, another modern legend of the game, Sachin Tendulkar paid tribute to Sir Don. Tendulkar and Don shared a pretty cordial relation when the latter was alive. Don had also invited Tendulkar and the great Shane Warne during India’s tour of Australia back in 1998/99.

Taking to his twitter handle, Tendulkar wrote, “A lot of people remember Sir Don Bradman for his extraordinary batting. I remember him more for his graciousness and sense of humour that I experienced when I had the privilege of spending some time with him in 1998,” he tweeted.

It was under the leadership of the legendary batsman that Australia began their rise in world cricket. He remains the greatest batsman of all time and his average of 99.94 will remain intact as long as cricket is alive. Although nothing is impossible this particular record is unlikely to be broken anytime soon. Meanwhile, it was Sir Don Bradman who had compared himself with Sachin Tendulkar. He had famously said that Tendulkar’s batting reminded him of his own batting.

“I saw him playing on television and was struck by his technique, so I asked my wife to come to look at him. Now I never saw myself play, but I feel that this player is playing much the same as I used to play, and she looked at him on television and said yes, there is a similarity between the two, his compactness, technique, stroke production; it all seemed to gel,” Bradman had said about Tendulkar.
