Indian skipper was out of words to praise Rohit Sharma after a brilliant knock against New Zealand in the 3rd T20 at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
Rohit Sharma who was not in the runs in the first two T20 against New Zealand found his feet in the Hamilton match. Rohit Sharma scored a quick fifty in the first innings of the game where he scored a 23 ball fifty and went to score 65 runs to help India reach a considerable total of 179 at the end of 20 overs.
Virat Kohli was extremely excited with the innings and also said in the post-match presentation “Rohit was outstanding today, in the first half and in the super over. We knew, if he gets one hit, the bowler will be under pressure because he is such a clean striker of the cricket ball.”
India who were down and out in the last over of the game made a great comeback courtesy a perfect bowling performance by Mohammed Shami. Shami also received praises from the Indian captain as the Virat said “Shami again, showed his experience and put a couple of balls outside the off-stump. On the last ball, we had a discussion and we came to a conclusion that we had to hit the stumps because otherwise there is a single anyway and we are gonna lose the game. Shami went for it, got the wicket and the game turned on its head.”
Kohli also appreciated the way New Zealand and almost put India into a corner, India were under pressure courtesy a great knock by Kane Williamson who scored 95 and got out in the last over to Mohammed Shami., Kohli said “I thought we were gone at one stage. I told our coach that they probably deserved to finish the game off with the way Kane batted and the way he led from the front. We got a wicket at a crucial stage”
Kohli also gave the hint that other players would also get a chance in the remaining games and India will have an eye on clean sweeping the series.
