The International Cricket Council (ICC) made a major glitch mistake as they declared India ahead of Australia in the latest Test team rankings. After officially declaring Men in Blue as the number 1 ranked side across all formats on Wednesday afternoon, they rectified that Australia is top of the tree while India moved down to number 2nd place.
BCCI officials are not happy with ICC in the sudden change of ranking status. They have done serious goofs or they have jumped the gun or neither it is amusing. As per rankings on Wednesday afternoon, the Indian team was at number 1 side with 115 rating points, followed by Australia with 111 points.
As per current rankings, India is currently unchanged with 115 rating points while Australia has 126 rating points. According to the sources, the digital team in Dubai may have committed errors in calculation.
The Indian team is currently at the number 1 position in the One-day international and T20I rankings. England is just one behind Team India in the T20I format.
Indian team dominating Australia in the first Test
The Indian Cricket Team produced a dominating display of cricket winning the match by innings and 132 runs on the 3rd day. Ravindra Jadeja was the star in the first innings with 5 wickets while Ashwin took 3, and Siraj and Shami grabbed 1 wicket each to bowl out Australia for just 177.
Rohit Sharma was the star of the show with a well-composed 120, Ravindra Jadeja 70, Axar Patel 84, and Shami 37 helped India post 400 runs taking the massive lead of 223 runs. The second innings saw R Ashwin picking up 5 wickets along with Jadeja 2, Axar Patel 1, and Shami 2 to bowl out Australia for 91 in just 1 session to register a dominating win. Virat Kohli and Surya Kumar Yadav were the only two batters dismissed cheaply leading Team India to such a big total in the first innings.
For his all-around performance, Ravindra Jadeja was named the player of the match in the comeback match. Shreyas Iyer has been deemed fit for the second Test match at New Delhi starting from 17 Feb. It will be interesting to see what combination the Indian team goes with.
