Former India skipper MS Dhoni has been one of the best to lead the country in the international arena. He has been one of the key reasons behind India's meteoric rise across the three formats. Every member of the current Indian team speaks highly of Dhoni including Rohit Sharma who rated him as the best skipper India have ever produced.

MS Dhoni's promotion as a skipper witnessed a paradigm shift in Indian cricket as he led India to the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007. He is also the only captain in history to win all the ICC events including the 2011 ICC World Cup and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. The cricketer from Jharkhand also took India to the top spot of ICC Test Rankings in 2009 and India won several overseas tours under his leadership.

Speaking in a candid interview, Rohit Sharma was in all praise for his former skipper. Incidentally, Rohit made his debut under MS Dhoni’s captaincy and was also promoted as an opener by the wicketkeeper-batsman. Calling him as the best captain, Rohit stated that Dhoni's ability to handle young cricketers set him apart from the rest.

“Whole India knows MS Dhoni is the one who has been like that. It (remaining calm) has helped him to make such good decisions on the field. He is now the most successful Indian captain of all time, having won all the three ICC trophies and IPL titles as well. He is the best captain India has seen,” said Rohit Sharma in an interview with Curly Tales.

“Obviously there is a reason behind it and that reason is him being calm and composed under pressure situation. I have seen him handle a lot of young bowlers when they get under pressure. He just goes around and puts his arm around their neck and talks to them. When a younger member is treated like that by a senior member of the team, you obviously feel confident,” he added.
