The Kiwi team were riding high and were looking to clean sweep the Indian in order to avenge their loss in the T20 Series. The Kiwi team was also excited with the return of their captain Kane Williamson who was out with a small niggle.

On the other hand the Indian were looking to win the match in order to save themselves from a cleen sweep. Captain Kane Williamson won the toss and invited the Indians to bat first on a good track at Mount Maunganui.

The Indian couldn't capitalise on the good batting track as Mayank Agarwal and Captain were soon gone to the dressing room as this ended a horrible One Day series for the Indian Captain who scored 75 runs in 3 matches at an average of 25.

It was then onto the middle order to revive the Indian batting line up and that was the case KL Rahul notched up his 4th One Day International Century and Shreyas Iyer continued his form in the One Day series after Mumbai lad scored yet another half century after scoring a century and half century in the Hamilton and Auckland.

KL Rahul then stitched a good partnership with Manish andey to propel India to 296 for the loss of 7 wickets.

Hamish Benett who making his One Day International return in this series took 4 wickets to rip off the Indian batting.

Chasing 297, Nicholls and Guptill (66) provided a brilliant foundation for the Kiwis and a late onslaught by Tom Latham and de Grandhomme was enough to clinch the encounter.

Henry Nicholls scored a gritty 80 off 103 balls while Colin de Grandhomme scored a quick-fire 58 off just 28 deliveries to guide New Zealand to a comfortable five-wicket victory over India in the third ODI encounter in Mount Maunganui on Tuesday.

This was the third in the history of Indian Cricket that this Indian team was clean swept in One Day Internationals. The last time India were clean swept it was in 1989 against the mighty Windies.
