Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni will kickstart his training from March 2 ahead of the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Notably, Dhoni has been out of action since India’s ICC World Cup 2019 ouster losing to New Zealand in the semifinals. The upcoming cash-rich league will be his first assignment since the 50-over World Cup.
The legendary cricketer had made him unavailable from cricket since India’s ouster from the semifinals of the ICC World Cup. The cricketer from Ranchi had poor returns in the premier tournament in England and decided to take a sabbatical. During this period, the veteran cricketer worked with the Army in August. He also played an amateur golf tournament in the USA and took part in a charity football match.

There has been a lot of spoken over MS Dhoni retirement but the cricketer is yet to speak a word. But the national selectors have recently said that they have come ahead of Dhoni and the fans are unlikely to the former India skipper in India jersey once again. However, Dhoni will continue to ply his trade in the IPL for the Super Kings.
In a bid to prepare for the high-profile league, the Super Kings will begin to train from the 2nd of March in Chennai according to the Chennai Super Kings’ CEO KS Vishwanath. Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu among several others will join Dhoni for the training.Furthermore, Vishwanath also confirmed that the full preparatory camp would commence on the 19th of March.

Chennai Super Kings will take on defending champions Mumbai Indians in the opening match at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the 29th of March. The two sides clashed in the final of the previous season where under Rohit Sharma’s leadership, Mumbai lifted their fourth IPL trophy.
