In 2023, the Indian cricket team will have another opportunity to win an ICC trophy. Two, to be exact. Before hosting the 2023 ODI World Cup at home later in October. They will compete in the World Test Championship final against Australia at The Oval in June. The team is expected to Display a good performance as per the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

However, Ravi Shastri, the former head coach of India, had an astonishing opinion on the chances India had in the two ICC competitions. He used the names of Lionel Messi and Sachin Tendulkar to support his claim.

Since their victory in the 2013 Champions Trophy under Dhoni’s leadership, India has gone ten years without taking home an ICC trophy. The two ODI World Cups that followed (in 2015 and 2019) saw India advance to the semifinals over the subsequent ten years.

They had advanced to the T20 World Cup final in 2014, made two semifinal appearances in 2016 and 2022, and were eliminated at the group stage in 2021. They had lost in the championship match of both the inaugural WTC competition and the Champions Trophy.

A second opportunity to win an ICC trophy will present itself to the Indian cricket team in 2023
