Rajasthan Royals welcomed Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa for the 16th edition of IPL starting on March 31. Zampa will play a key role for Rajasthan Royals as he was named the man of the match in the 3rd One-day international played at M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai picking up 4 wickets and helping Australia register a 2-1 ODI series win over hosts India.
Rajasthan Royals bought Adam Zampa for a base price of 1.50 Crore. He will strengthen the spin attack along with Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal creating doubts in the batters’ mind. The pitches would gradually help spin bowlers.
Rajasthan Royals has a solid unit that will be led by Sanju Samson. They retained players including Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shimron Hetymer, Devdutt Paddikal, Jos Buttler, Dhruv Juyel, Riyan Parag, Trent Boult, Obed McCoy, Navdeep Saini, Kuldeep Sen, Kuldip Yadav, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, KC Cariappa. Sandeep Sharma has been named as a replacement for Prasidh Krishna who will not play in the IPL 2023 due to an injury.
RR bought West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder for Rs 5.75 Crore, Joe Root 1 Crore, Donovan Ferreira for 50 Lakhs, KM Asif 30 Lakhs, Abdul PA 20 Lakhs, Akash Vashisht 20 Lakhs, Murugan Ashwin 20 Lakhs and Kunal Rathore 20 Lakhs.
Rajasthan Royals would look to go one step ahead as they finished 2nd in the 2022 edition of IPL. Sanju Samson led side faces Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening match on April 2 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.

Adam Zampa picked up 12 wickets from 5 matches in the 2016 edition of IPL for Rising Pune Supergiants at an economy of 6.36 runs per over. He produced magical figures of 6 for 19 against Sunrisers Hyderabad played on 10 May 2016. It was a brilliant effort by the leg spinner and helped Rising Pune Supergiants win the match by just 4 runs.
For his match-winning effort, Zampa was named the player of the match award. He then featured in 6 matches in IPL 2017 picking up 7 wickets for Rising Pune Supergiants at an economy of 8.21 runs per over.
He played just 3 matches in the 2020 edition of the IPL and grabbed 2 wickets at an economy of 8.36 runs per over.
