Shaikh’s fifer deflates John Bright CC in the Kale Cup’20

Mumbai, March 5:

Rahul Shaikh terrific bowling efforts of  5 for 28 runs helped Young Maharashtra Cricket Club record a convincing 56-run win against John Bright Cricket Club in a quarter-final round match of the Kale Cup T20 cricket tournament for ‘C’ & ‘D’ Division clubs, at the Matunga Gymkhana on Thursday.

Young Maharashtra sent in to bat first amassed a massive total of 216 for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Kushal Valsangkar cracked 54 runs from 30 balls with five boundries and two sixes and Tanmay Kadam scored a 25-ball 45 runs with eight hits to the ropes. John Bright’s Rahul Kesari claimed 3 wickets for 23 runs.

John Bright struggled in the chase and despite the solid knocks from all-rounder Rahul Kesari 64 runs (36 balls, 7×4, 3×6) and Harshal Bari 56 runs (25 balls, 4×4, 4×6) they fell short of the target as they dismissed for 160 all out in 17 overs. Rahul Shaikh finished with impressive figures of 5 for 28 runs and Ayush Raghuvanshi picked up 2 for 29 runs to secure Young Maharashtra’s win.

Rahul Shaikh was declared ‘Man of the match’.

Kale Cup has been one of the much needed tournaments in mumbai which has given platform to all the club cricketers to perform.Thanks to Suraj Samat and MCA Vice President Amol Kale for such a wonderful initiative.

Brief scores: Young Maharashtra 216 for 7 wickets in 20 overs (Kushal Valsangkar 54, Tanmay Kadam 45; Rahul Kesari 3 for 23) beat John Bright CC 160 all out in 17 overs (Rahul Kesari 64, Harshal Bari 56; Rahul Shaikh 5 for 28, Ayush Raghuvanshi 2 for 29).

Result: Young Maharashtra CC won by 56 runs.
