Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell revealed that he enjoys playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He expressed that he tries to raise the bar every time he plays in the tournament. The all-rounder made his IPL debut for the Delhi Capitals in 2012 and then joined the Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014. Since then, he has been an integral part of the franchise.
In 99 IPL matches, Andre Russell has scored 2035 runs at a strike rate of 177.88 and has taken 89 wickets. He has won the Most Valuable Player award twice in the tournament. Before the Kolkata Knight Riders’ opening match of IPL 2023, Andre Russell spoke to Harsha Bhogle about his experience of playing in India and the T20 league. He said,
“Yes, definitely, I do. I do have my goals for every tournament. Every time I come to the IPL, I try to raise the bar. Sometimes, it doesn’t happen but I still set high standards and set the bar high. Whenever you achieve it, you do well for yourself and contribute for the team.”

Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Andre Russell further expressed that he loves playing in India, because of the fans. He added that the support of the fans home or away has been unbelievable. In the conversation with Harsha Bhogle before the Punjab Kings’ match, Andre Russell said,
“To be honest, even though it might look small, you still have to get a good bat to ball. I still respect every ground that I play in. It’s just hitting the ball in the stands as usual. Always been fun playing in India. The environment, and the love from the fans, home and away, is just unbelievable. It is something to cherish and I will do my best in whatever role.”
