The swashbuckling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been in stellar form with the bat ever since he returned to action in the ongoing DY Patil Cup 2020. After striking a century of 37 deliveries, Pandya took the cricketing world by storm knocking the highest T20 score by an Indian. He remained unbeaten on 158 off just 55 balls.
Meanwhile, Pandya made a return to action after undergoing surgery on his back which has been troubling him since the 2018 Asia Cup. He was ruled out of the ICC World Cup 2019 midway owing to the same injury which aggravated. Since then, Hardik Pandya has been in and out of the game until returning to action in the DY Patil Cup.
After amassing a 37-ball century last week, Hardik Pandya once again stole the limelight with a 39-ball hundred – his second in the competition. Put to bat first against BPCL, Reliance 1 had an average start. But once Pandya came in the middle, things started to change in favour of Reliance. He had the license of going after the bowlers and he made the most of the opportunity.

The all-rounder from Baroda slammed 20 humongous sixes and just six fours in his record-breaking innings to take Reliance 1 to post 238 on the scoreboard. He remained unbeaten on 158 off just 55 balls. In the process, he broke Shreyas Iyer's record of the highest T20 total by an Indian. Iyer had knocked 147 runs for Mumbai against Sikkim in their Group C match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Indore.
Hardik Pandya is making the right noises as the newly-picked selectors sit together to pick India's squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against South Africa starting from March 12. Pandya's last international game was against South Africa in September last year. He will be eyeing a return with the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia in view.
