Sam Curran, an all-around player for Punjab Kings, recently became the most expensive player in Indian Premier League history, but he claims he is not putting too much pressure on himself. At the mini-auction in Kochi last December, PBKS spent Rs 18.50 crore on Curran.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Curran explained that he doesn’t put himself under excessive pressure and simply concentrates on the game, adding that the price is what it is.
In order to retain Curran, PBKS successfully resisted interest from the Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, and Rajasthan Royals.
They obviously trust me a lot because they buy you for a reason. I try not to overthink things and concentrate on the bat and ball. I’m hoping I’ll be able to deliver some strong performances. The price is what it is, said Curran.
He continued by expressing his hope that he could help PBKS turn their fortunes around and help them win their first IPL championship in 2023.
In the first two games of the 2023 season, PBKS defeated the Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders.
The competition has just begun. Although the tournament is lengthy and we’ve had a good start, hopefully, we can win games one at a time. At Chennai, I had two fantastic years.
Hopefully, I can turn Punjab’s fortunes around because they haven’t yet won it. I’m just trying to enjoy it and focus on each game individually, Curran continued.
With England, Curran had an outstanding ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. England defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the championship match to win the coveted trophy. The tournament’s Player of the Tournament was Curran, who claimed 13 wickets while bowling with an economy of 6.52.
After winning their first two games, PBKS will face SunRisers Hyderabad in their upcoming match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
