After the 4-time champions, Chennai Super Kings secured a 7-wicket victory at Chepauk on Friday, CSK captain MS Dhoni spent some time talking with a group of kids from SunRisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2023.
MS Dhoni was surrounded by at least 8-10 young players from the opposing camp after sealing the victory with Chennai Super Kings against SunRisers Hyderabad in their IPL 2023 match on Friday. The youngsters were listening to MS Dhoni with rapt attention, but the Chennai Super Kings captain was the centre of attention.
In the IPL, it’s common to see young people introducing themselves to famous cricketers and learning from their post-match interactions, but it was a first to see nearly half the opposition engage in conversation with a player.
Before leaving for the post-game presentation ceremony, MS Dhoni stopped to impart his wisdom to the Sunrisers Hyderabad team!

Hemang Badani, their fielding coach and scout, was also there, taking in Dhoni’s words. Robin Uthappa, a former Indian and current CSK player, praised MS Dhoni for devoting time to teaching young players while still playing in the IPL.
“You see, this is fantastic for these kids. To be able to converse and ask questions with him. They anticipate this chance, Uthappa told Jio Cinema.”
“When they travel to Chennai, they anticipate spending 5 minutes with MS Dhoni; what questions will they have for him? Even if they only have 2 minutes to quiz him, the fact that he makes himself available to them after every game just goes to show what kind of a man he is.”
He further added, “I believe it’s marvellous that he’s sharing whatever he can share with them and share to it.”
Uthappa praised CSK for its consistency under MS Dhoni over the years and continued by saying that some captains and coaches should go up and speak with the influential captain to learn how to choose teams for home conditions in the IPL.
“I believe some of the coaches and captains ought to approach him and discuss with him the tactics that must be used by so many different teams, especially at home. The team must be arranged in accordance with the players and the circumstances. Many teams are not doing that, even though it is sometimes obvious to do so, he continued.”
As CSK held SRH to 134 for 7 in 20 overs, MS Dhoni brilliantly managed his team. The four-time champions easily overcame the target thanks to Devon Conway’s unbeaten 77, maintaining their third-place standing in the points standings.
