Arjun Tendulkar finally received his first cap last week after a three-year wait for Mumbai Indians, making his IPL debut. Arjun was given the opportunity by the team’s captain Rohit Sharma and he had a respectable start to his IPL career.
So far in the 2023 Indian Premier League, Arjun Tendulkar has participated in two games. In MI’s most recent match against SRH, he took his first wicket.
In his first game, he only bowled two overs, both in the Powerplay and he gave up 18 runs. Arjun finally secured his first league wicket by removing Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his subsequent game on Tuesday against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Rohit Sharma gave the younger Tendulkar 20 runs to defend off the final six deliveries and Arjun was given the opportunity to bowl the game’s final over.
Only five wickets were eventually lost by the 23-year-old, who also dismissed Bhuvneshwar on the game’s penultimate delivery. While some of the top bowlers such as Jofra Archer and Jasprit Bumrah were absent.
Arjun Tendulkar impressed everyone with his spell
Arjun Tendulkar impressed both former cricket players and fans with his line and lengths in the final over despite his lack of consistent fast pace. No matter what he was attempting, it was working in his favour. He succeeded in his goal of getting the ball to swing into the batter. In his attempt to bowl Yorkers, he was successful.
The son of legendary former cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has to be “dragged” out of the nets. According to Ojha, who also discussed Arjun with MI’s global head for cricket development, Zaheer Khan.
It’s interesting to note that many former cricket players have said similar things about Sachin Tendulkar both before and after the latter started playing. The legendary batter was described in the same way by former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who had played with Tendulkar since their U-15 days.
Playing with a legend like him has been a privilege. We were aware of his special talent even back when we were in U-15. He had to be dragged out of the nets by our coach for other players to have a chance. In 2012, Ganguly praised Tendulkar saying, ”His love for the game has not diminished in the slightest”.
