Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir and Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli have been handed 100% match fees fines for breaching the Code of Conduct in the 2023 Indian Premier League. The duo was involved in a heated exchange following Royal Challengers Bangalore’s win against the Super Giants on Monday, May 1 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
As per the statement released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir admitted to Level 2 offense under Article 2.21. It covers (a) public acts of misconduct; (b) unruly public behavior; and (c) inappropriate comments which are detrimental to the interests of the game. Meanwhile, Naveen-ul-Haq was fined 50% match fees for a level 1 breach under the same Article.

Royal Challengers Bangalore emerge winners in a low-scoring thriller
Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the Lucknow Super Giants by 18 runs in the 2023 Indian Premier League. Batting first, they managed to put on 126 runs on the board. Skipper Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli put together an opening stand of 62 runs, after which their innings tumbled. Naveen-ul-Haq picked up a three-wicket haul, while Ravi Bishnoi and Amit Mishra took two wickets each.
Lucknow Super Giants were struck with a mighty blow when their skipper KL Rahul got injured on the field during the first innings. Ayush Badoni, the impact player, came out to open the innings along with Kyle Mayers. The hosts couldn’t manage a good partnership and were reduced to 103 runs for nine wickets. KL Rahul came out to bat at Number 10, despite injury. However, it was too late as they got bowled out for 108 runs, handing Bangalore their fifth win of the season.
