Suryakumar Yadav put on a show at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday by smashing his first IPL century.
When Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians played each other on Friday, Suryakumar Yadav put on a show at the Wankhede Stadium by smashing his first Indian Premier League (IPL) century.
The top-ranked T20I batter in the world outperformed Afghanistan and GT maverick spinner Rashid Khan by scoring 103 runs off 49 balls, including six sixes and 11 fours, to lead his team to 218-5. Yuvraj Singh, a former all-rounder for India, praised Suryakumar for his 360-degree batting on Twitter following the conclusion of MI’s innings.
“Well bowled @rashidkhan_19 but @surya_14kumar batting on a different planet! Unbelievable hitting! Jahan dil Kare wahan,” said the commentator. What a 100 but game on!! Not easy to defend at Wankhade Stadium,” Yuvraj tweeted.

Speaking of the game, Mumbai captain and opener Rohit Sharma hit an 18-ball 29 in a 61-run opening partnership with GT captain Hardik Pandya, who won the toss and elected to field.
To make matters worse, Mumbai lost Sharma, Kishan (31) and rookie Nehal Wadhera (15), falling to 88-3 before Suryakumar took over and scored his first IPL century in yet another player-of-the-match effort.
In response, GT had the worst possible start, losing the first three openers (Wriddhiman Saha (2), Shubman Gill (6), and skipper Pandya (4)) by the fourth over.
The current IPL table-toppers kept losing wickets to Mumbai’s Chawla (2-36) and Kumar Kartikeya (2-37) tight lengths.
As Gujarat moved from 103-8 in the 14th over to 191-8 in response, Rashid, who had earlier taken 4-30, hit an unbeaten 32-ball 79 with ten sixes.
