Mumbai Indians (MI) finished their group league of IPL 2023 on Sunday, May 21 by defeating the Sunrisers Hyderabad by an enormous margin of 8 wickets to reach the 16-point mark. However, they awaited by holding their breath for the evening match between the Gujarat Titans and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
Notably, the game would determine their future. Mumbai Indians players watched RCB vs. GT live together and they celebrated wildly after qualifying for the playoffs for the ongoing season after GT beat RCB as well.

The entire MI camp, which was glued to the screen, jumped for joy as Shubman Gill hit the winning six. That not only helped him reach his century but also ended the chances of the RCB for qualification. And Virat Kohli’s incredible first-innings century also went in vain.
When Mumbai Indians advanced to the top four, MI batter Vishnu Vinod shared the video of his teammates’ celebrations while they were watching the game together. However, Cameron Green, an Australian all-rounder, delivered for Mumbai in the most crucial match by smashing his first IPL century in his rookie campaign.
The Mumbai Indians gave themselves the best chance by chasing the 201-run target in just 18 overs. Thanks to Green’s century and captain Rohit Sharma’s fifty.
In the end, Michael Bracewell and Anuj Rawat helped RCB post a respectable score of 197 runs thanks to Kohli’s second consecutive century which helped his team not only escape a precarious situation after being on 133/5. However, the RCB’s bowling once again fell short as they were unable to hold the GT batters down, particularly Gill, who was batting at a higher level in 2023.
Additionally, Shubman Gill hit back-to-back tons in the IPL and the Titans prevented RCB from reaching the playoff as well.
