In the first IPL 2023 Qualifier match between the Gujarat Titans (GT) and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, The broadcasters showed a distinctive image of a tree whenever a Ball was bowled.

It was included as a component of the BCCI’s (Board of Control for Cricket in India) green initiative to promote environmental sustainability.

In the meantime, the IPL has had this before. The idea for the “Green Game” was first developed in 2011 by the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

RCB has worn distinctive green jerseys during one of their home matches to raise awareness for a greener and cleaner environment. In relation to the match, the winner of Qualifier 1 will automatically advance to the IPL 2023 championship game.

For a spot in Sunday’s summit match, the loser will instead have to compete in Qualifier 2 against the winner of the match between the Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

The Eliminator will take place on May 24 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. On the other hand, the Qualifier 2 and the final will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. To secure a spot in the final of the IPL 2023, GT must chase down CSK’s 173-run target.

Ahead of the CSK in Qualifier 1, the defending champions GT won the toss and decided to bat first. Thanks to Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway’s opening 87-run stand. The Chennai-based team got off to a strong start with the bat.

Gaikwad scored 60 runs off 44 balls to lead his team in scoring during the pivotal match. Conway contributed as well, scoring a crucial 40 runs. MS Doni and company were propelled by cameo appearances from people like Ravindra Jadeja (22), Ambati Rayudu (17) and Ajinkya Rahane (17).

Mohammed Shami was Gujarat’s top bowler, finishing with 2/28 from his allotted four overs. Along with taking two wickets, Mohit Sharma also had one each from Darshan Nalkande, Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad. Wriddhiman Saha (12) and Hardik Pandya (8) were both bowled out by Chennai as a result of their quick bowling action in response.
