Hardik Pandya, the captain of the Gujarat Titans (GT), said after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated his team in a thrilling Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 final that he didn’t mind losing to MS Dhoni. He continued by saying that Dhoni would undoubtedly win this year.
In the IPL 2023 final game at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, CSK defeated GT by five wickets (using the DLS method) off the final ball. A lengthy rain delay caused the game, which had started on Monday evening (May 29), to end well after midnight.
Ravindra Jadeja led CSK to victory by hitting the final two balls of Mohit Sharma for six and four runs, respectively, to help the team reach its revised target of 171 in 15 overs.
At the post-game presentation, Hardik was all kudos for his coach and the opposing team’s captain, Dhoni.
He said, “I salute the legend. I’m thrilled for him [Dhoni].” This was predetermined for him by destiny. I don’t mind losing to him if I have to if I have to. I said last year that good people experience good things. He is, in my opinion, among the most kind people I have ever met. God has been gracious to me, but I believe God showed him a little more today. “
Sai Sudharsan smashed 96 off 47 balls as Gujarat batted first after losing the toss and posted an impressive total of 214/4.
CSK had to chase 171 in 15 overs after rain halted play. If the weather made their chances worse, Hardik answered: “I’m not one of those guys who finds an explanation. We weren’t as good as CSK in cricket. Definitely amazing was the way we batted. Sai deserves special recognition as well. He played innings that would be considered strong for someone his age at this point. I just want to wish him luck and know that he will accomplish great things in life. “
Before being dismissed in the final over of Gujarat’s innings, Sudharsan hit eight fours and six sixes in a magnificent display of clean hitting.
Hardik Pandya praises his teammates for “keeping up the fight.” He was full of praise for his teammates despite the heartbreaking defeat in the IPL 2023 championship game. He claimed that everyone fought to the bitter end and that he couldn’t have wished for me.
Hardik stated “I am so happy for the guys. We’ve always believed in supporting them and ensuring that they achieve their full potential. Their achievement has been their achievement. The way Mohit, Shami, Rashid, and everyone else put their hands up and said, “Don’t worry, we got you,” shows how well-prepared and responsible they have been.”
“I believe we check a lot of boxes and play to our hearts. We’ve always worked as a cohesive unit, supporting one another. I’m incredibly proud of how they’ve performed throughout the entire season. Nobody quit trying. The fighting persisted. Our group has a motto that reads, “We win together, and we lose together.” A day like today might have been one of those. ”
Shubman Gill (890 runs) and pacer Mohammed Shami (28 wickets), who helped Gujarat finish as IPL 2023 runners-up, respectively, took home the Orange and Purple caps. Gujarat finished as the tournament’s runners-up. With 27 each, Mohit and Rashid Khan tied for second place among wicket-takers in the edition.
