Shardul Thakur, an all-around pace bowler for India, vowed to seize every chance to represent his nation, particularly in an ICC WTC final.
Beginning on June 7 at the Oval, India and Australia will face off in the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
Shardul also competed for India in the 2021 WTC final. Although India lost to New Zealand in Southampton by an eight-wicket margin.
Shardul Thakur is honored to be a part of such a prestigious event. Even he was not included in the playing XI.
“I believe that ICC event finals in particular are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a select few players or for someone like me because you don’t get to play them everywhere every single year. All I want is for it to matter”, Shardul told the ICC.
“When you’re representing your country, especially India, where a billion people have the desire to play for the country but only 15 have been chosen to do so, it’s always a special moment”, he continued.
“Especially being a part of this Final, which will take place in England starting on June 7 for the World Test Championship, it feels really special, and I’m honored.”

This includes the second Test at Johannesburg in January 2022. He bowled against South Africa and recorded his best bowling figures of 7/61.
Shardul Thakur once said, “It’s always good to remember your previous performances on a particular ground”.
Speaking about the performance before the WTC final was played at the same location, Shardul said:
“Yes, it’s always a good idea to draw inspiration from your past performance on a particular surface, even though your opponents this time around are different.”
Shardul also mentioned that England’s winning the toss depended heavily on the overhead conditions. It’sBecause of the strange weather, Shardul said, “I think England is difficult.”
“The toss hardly matters; it’s all about the cloud cover. When the sun is out, it’s good for batting, and when it’s overcast, it’s good for bowling.”
Shardul Thakur made an impression with both bat and ball during the previous tour to England. He scored 122 runs at an average of 24.40 while taking eight wickets.
In the renowned Brisbane Test in January 2021, he also took seven wickets to aid India in victory.
