BCCI Gives A Brief Statement For Exclusion Of Cheteshwar Pujara From The Indian Squad

Prior to the February home series against Sri Lanka, Pujara was also benched from the team, which is significant to note.

Officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confronted Cheteshwar Pujara about his exclusion from the Team India roster for the West Indies (WI) series.

Both cricket fans and former players have reacted angrily to the news that Pujara has been dropped from Team India.

In order to explain why Cheteshwar Pujara was not included on the team for the two-Test series against the West Indies, the Indian team management reportedly spoke with Pujara, according to Cricbuzz.

It’s unclear who spoke to him about not being chosen, but it might have been either selectors or coach Rahul Dravid.

Pujara, who has played in 103 Tests, is thought to have been told that young players will be given a chance. It’s unknown if the conversation in any way affected his decision to compete in the Duleep Trophy.

The multi-day competition that will start in a few days, however, Pujara immediately made himself available for the West Zone side.

A pillar of the Test squad, Pujara was left out due to his inconsistent performance in the format. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad, two young players, have been given the opportunity to contend for the third spot in his place.

Many people are not surprised by Pujara’s absence given that he played 17 Tests during the previous World Test Championship (WTC) cycle, during which he averaged 32, and that cycle.

It’s important to remember that Pujara was also benched before the February home series against Sri Lanka.

But after a stellar showing with Sussex in the County Championships, he did make a strong comeback in July.

The following players make up the India Test team:
