Yashasvi Jaiswal became the 17th Indian batter to score a Test Century on his debut match during the 2nd Day of the 1st Test match against West Indies played at Windsor Park, Dominica on 13 July 2023.
It was a superb performance by the youngster who was given a chance to open with Rohit Sharma. He looked in complete control on the first day with a well-complied half-century. Starting on the overnight score of 40, Jaiswal completed his half-century off 104 deliveries.
He struggled against Rakheem Cornwall on the 2nd morning but remained calm. He then reached his century off 215 balls and put on record 229 runs for the opening wicket along with Rohit Sharma.
After both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill went in quick succession, Jaiswal steadied the ship with solid defence and hitting the bad deliveries away for boundaries. He remained not out on 143 off 350 deliveries with 14 fours. Thanks to his brilliant knock, India ended the 2nd day in a commanding position at 312 for 2 with a lead of 162 runs.
Legendary Indian player Sachin Tendulkar praised Jaiswal for having a great start to his test career. The Indian team would look to score huge runs and bowl the West Indies second time out starting the 3rd cycle of WTC on a winning note.

He would be looking to continue his brilliant touch on the 3rd day and put on a huge score before putting the West Indies batting line-up under pressure in their 2nd innings. Due to his performances in Indian Premier League 2023, Jaiswal has been named in the 5-match T20I series against West Indies following the ODI Series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a dream run for Rajasthan Royals during Indian Premier League 2023. Opening the batting for RR, Jaiswal looked in brilliant touch with 625 runs from 14 matches (14 innings) including 1 century and 5 half-centuries to his name. He put the bowlers under pressure and scored with an amazing strike rate of 163.61.
During the IPL 2023, he scored a best score of 124 against Mumbai Indians and helped Rajasthan Royals post a big total. Despite his efforts, Rajasthan Royals could not win the match. Jaiswal could not perform according to expectations and failed to qualify for the knockout stage.
