During the match, England managed to score 395 runs before being all out, with Anderson dismissed lbw by Todd Murphy early on the fourth day. Broad, however, delighted the fans by smashing a six off Mitchell Starc before leaving the field unbeaten.

The decision to retire came as a surprise as Broad announced it on Day 3. He expressed his desire to end his career on a high note, especially in Ashes cricket, which he holds dear to his heart.

The 37-year-old is England’s second-highest wicket-taker in Test matches, trailing only James Anderson. Overall, he ranks fifth on the list of most wicket-takers in the history of Test cricket.Β Broad was not only an impressive bowler but also proved his worth as a lower-order batsman, scoring over 3600 runs, including a century and 13 half-centuries.
During the fourth day of the Test, England put up a challenging target of 383 runs for Australia to chase. Joe Root was the star performer with the bat, scoring 91 runs off 106 balls, while Jonny Bairstow and Zak Crawley contributed with 78 and 73 runs, respectively.
Australia had been bowled out for 295 in their first innings, gaining a narrow 12-run lead. Steve Smith top-scored with 71 runs off 123 balls. Among the bowlers, Chris Woakes stood out for England with figures of 3/61, and Broad, Root, and Mark Wood took two wickets each.
In their first innings, the hosts scored 283 runs, largely thanks to Harry Brook’s impressive knock of 85 runs off 91 balls. Mitchell Starc claimed four wickets for Australia, while Hazlewood and Murphy took one each.
