A lot has been spoken over the retirement of the former India skipper MS Dhoni. He has been on a sabbatical since India’s ouster from the ICC World Cup 2019 in England losing to New Zealand in the rain-marred semifinal clash.
He was anticipated to make a return during the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). In a bid to make a strong return, MS Dhoni began training on March 2 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium alongside the likes of Suresh Raina, Piyush Chawla, and Murali Vijay. However, the tournament was postponed until April 14 in the wake of the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic which was scheduled to commence from March 29.

Meanwhile, with IPL 2020 postponed, the return of MS Dhoni to international cricket looks bleak feels former India cricketer and Cricket Advisory Committee member Madan Lal. However, he mentioned that he is not aware of what the management is thinking on the legendary cricketer’s career.
“See, there are problems for MS Dhoni. He has not played cricket post-World Cup. If the IPL does not happen, problems for MSD will further increase. I don’t know what the team management, Ravi Shastri, Virat Kohli or the selectors are thinking,” he told ANI.

The new selection committee led by former India cricketer Sunil Joshi will play a critical role in the future of MS Dhoni and his return. Notably, Madan Lal, who played a significant role during the 1983 World Cup-winning campaign, picked the current selection committee two months ago.
Meanwhile, reports have emerged that the upcoming IPL will be postponed for an indefinite period in the coronavirus pandemic outbreak. If it doesn’t take place this year, then BCCI will also cancel the 2022 auctions.
