New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has revealed the jersey for the upcoming 2023 World Cup, set to commence on October 5. The Black Caps showcased the new kit on their official social media platform, featuring fast bowlers Trent Boult and Lockie Ferguson, along with wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Latham.
The jersey retains its traditional black base colour, featuring ‘NEW ZEALAND’ in the centre, with the 2023 World Cup logo on the far right and the silver fern emblem on the left side.
New Zealand will kick off the tournament by facing defending champions England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Led by Kane Williamson, New Zealand reached the final of the 2019 World Cup at Lord’s but faced an unfortunate loss to England.
They were also the runners-up in the 2015 edition when Australia defeated them by seven wickets at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) to claim their fifth title.

New Zealand face an injury setback as Tim Southee suffers a thumb fracture
After announcing their initial 15-player roster for the 2023 World Cup, experienced pace bowler Tim Southee sustained a right thumb injury while trying to catch the ball in the 4th ODI against England at Lord’s. Head coach Gary Stead mentioned in a video shared on the Black Caps’ social media that it’s premature to make a decision.
“We’ll just need to understand the timeframes and what that looks like and once we have that information, we will then be able to move forward and make a decision. Until then, we can’t make a call around the World Cup. We’ll want to give Tim every chance of proving his fitness,” he explained.
Despite their concerns, the 2019 World Cup finalists got a significant lift with the return of Kane Williamson, who was uncertain for the competition due to a knee injury. Williamson’s team has scheduled warm-up matches against Pakistan on September 29 and South Africa on October 2.
