Experienced batsman Virat Kohli will be eager to continue his strong performance in the 2023 ODI World Cup as India takes on arch-rivals Pakistan at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium this Saturday.
The 34-year-old has achieved half-centuries in both of India’s previous matches in the tournament. Kohli made an 85-run contribution from 116 deliveries in India’s six-wicket victory over Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.
He followed that performance by staying not out with 55 runs from 56 balls as Team India secured an eight-wicket win against Afghanistan at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium.
When reviewing Kohli’s ODI World Cup history against Pakistan, he has participated in three matches and accumulated 193 runs at an impressive average of 64.33, including one century.
In the 2011 World Cup semi-final in Mohali, he was removed by Wahab Riaz after scoring 9 runs from 21 deliveries. The prominent Indian batsman recorded a century, making 107 runs from 126 deliveries in the 2015 World Cup match against Pakistan in Adelaide.
Kohli managed to hit eight boundaries in a skillfully crafted inning as India set a total of 300/7 and eventually won the match by a margin of 76 runs, dismissing Pakistan for 224.
In the 2019 World Cup encounter between India and Pakistan in Manchester, Kohli played a significant role by scoring a crucial 77 runs from 65 deliveries, including seven boundaries.
