ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Indian Cricket Legend Mocks Pakistan’s ‘Spectacular’ Batting Collapse

Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag didn’t hold back in mocking Pakistan’s abysmal batting performance during the World Cup 2023 clash against India at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium. In a match filled with anticipation and fervor, the Men in Green’s batsmen crumbled, losing their last eight wickets for a mere 36 runs and getting dismissed in the 43rd over, setting a paltry target of 192 runs for India.

Sehwag’s commentary was laced with sarcasm, as he quipped about the “hospitality” extended to the Pakistani batters who all got a chance to display their skills, subtly highlighting their disastrous performance on a seemingly batsman-friendly pitch. He humorously suggested that the Pakistan team might have thought it was time for evening snacks when their batting collapsed so dramatically.

The earlier part of the game saw Pakistan losing their openers, Imam-ul-Haq and Abdullah Shafique, despite a steady start. However, the duo of Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan managed to rebuild the innings with an 82-run partnership for the third wicket. But their hopes were short-lived as Babar fell soon after reaching his half-century, leaving Pakistan at 157-3 in 31 overs.

Unfortunately for Pakistan, it was a downhill journey from there as no player, except Hasan Ali, managed to reach double digits in their scores. Consequently, the Green Shirts could only muster a modest total of 192, setting the stage for India to chase it down comfortably.

The experienced Indian opening batsman, Virender Sehwag, playfully teased Shoaib Akhtar following Pakistan’s humiliating batting collapse in the highly anticipated ICC ODI World Cup 2023 clash. The Pakistan batsmen put up a woeful performance in front of a packed crowd at Narendra Modi Stadium, getting dismissed for a mere 191 runs in 42.5 overs.

The Indian bowlers worked cohesively to dismantle Pakistan’s batting lineup. Despite being at 155 for two, Pakistan witnessed a dramatic collapse, eventually getting bowled out for 191.

Shoaib Akhtar, taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), commented, “Wah re yeh khamosh chokkay!!” in response to Pakistan’s underwhelming performance.

Sehwag, known for his wit, responded to Akhtar’s remark with a playful jab, suggesting, “Perhaps, upon seeing the silent sixes, Pakistani batsmen quickly decided to head back to the pavilion. They couldn’t handle the pressure. Haha… No worries, Shoaib Bhai. It’s not in love or romance… The real fun is in the 8-0 defeat!”

In the end, India completely outclassed Pakistan, securing a seven-wicket victory in this highly-anticipated encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium. India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, played a scintillating innings of 86 runs, and the Men in Blue maintained their perfect World Cup record against their archrivals. The atmosphere in Ahmedabad was electric, with Indian fans dominating the crowd due to visa delays for Pakistani supporters, making it an unforgettable match for cricket enthusiasts.
