What Is Rohit Sharma’s Performance History As A Bowler In One Day Internationals (ODIs)?

Team India Captain, Rohit Sharma, recently decided to try his hand at off-spin bowling during a practice session in Pune. This video and photos have gained widespread attention on social media, sparking various reactions from fans.

Rohit Sharma and the Indian team are presently in Pune, getting ready for their next 2023 World Cup match against Bangladesh on Thursday, October 19, at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium.

In a press conference prior to the World Cup, Rohit Sharma was questioned about the lack of part-time bowling options in Team India’s top and middle order. In a light-hearted manner, he quipped that both he and Virat Kohli might consider doing some bowling in the tournament.

Sharma appears to be getting ready for this role in the upcoming matches by honing his off-spin skills during a practice session, and you can view it in the video provided below:

Rohit Sharma is no stranger to bowling, having regularly bowled in the early stages of his international career. He has taken eight wickets in 254 ODIs, with his best figures of 2/27 coming against West Indies in 2009.

However, it has been over seven years since he last bowled in ODI cricket. The most recent instance was in 2016 against Australia in Perth when he bowled one over, conceding 11 runs.

Rohit has shared that he refrained from bowling in recent years due to concerns about finger injuries. Rohit Sharma has also taken a hat-trick as a bowler in the IPL.

This remarkable achievement occurred in 2009 when he was representing the Deccan Chargers, and he dismissed Abhishek Nayar, Harbhajan Singh, and JP Duminy in consecutive deliveries during a match against the Mumbai Indians.
