Team India bowler Jasprit Bumrah has silenced his critics with brilliant performances in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He has been instrumental in the team’s six-match unbeaten run so far in the tournament. The pacer is Team India’s leading wicket-taker and the second overall in the list.

Jasprit Bumrah was on the sidelines a year back due to a stress fracture. He missed some of the major tournaments. Doubts were raised over his fitness and future. However, Bumrah has made a terrific comeback and is proving his mettle. In six matches, he has taken 14 wickets, including a four-wicket haul in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. He took 3/32 against England in the recent match to power India to a comfortable win.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the pacer expressed that he heard several things about his career when he was injured. However, he is glad to make a comeback and perform well for the team.

“My wife (Sanjana Ganesan) also works in the sports media department. So yeah, I heard a lot of question marks on my career that I will never come back and all of that, but it doesn’t really matter. I’m very happy.”

“I came back and I realised how much I love playing the game. I was not chasing anything. Great headspace was there when I came back from the injury. So yeah, eventually I’m looking at the positives and trying to enjoy as much as you can,” he added.

Very happy with the result: Jasprit Bumrah on India’s win against England

Team India defeated England by 100 runs to secure their sixth win in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Batting first, they managed 229 runs on the board. Rohit Sharma played a fine knock of 87 runs, while Suryakumar Yadav scored 49. Jasprit Bumrah also chipped in with a valuable 16-run knock. In response, England couldn’t get going and succumbed to 129 runs. Mohammed Shami took a four-wicket haul, while Jasprit Bumrah took three wickets.

“It was a good challenge for us that we were put under pressure. We lost a little bit of early wickets. We had to squeeze in and in the field as well, we had to put in a lot of effort. So yeah, very happy with the result. It was really good for us because we’ve been fielding first and we’ve been doing that for a while now. Because (India chased) in the previous series as well, which I played,” said Jasprit Bumrah.
