The 3rd day of the one-off Test match between Indian Women and Australian ends with Australian women ending 233 for 5 with a lead of 46 runs only at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on 23rd December.
Starting on the overnight score of 376 for 7, Pooja Vastrkar and Deepti Sharma could not add big runs before Indian women ended with score of 408 with a lead of 187 runs. Beth Mooney looked impressive with positive stroke before Richa Ghosh produced stunning run out as the Australian player did a brain fade moment. Mooney and Litchfield added 49 runs for opening wicket. Right before the lunch break, Sneha Rana struck to get rid of Litchfield to put pressure on the Australian batting lineup.

After the lunch break, Tahila McGarth and Ellyse Perry steadied the ship taking singles and hitting boundaries at regular intervals keeping the momentum going for Australian team. Sneha Rana struck to get rid of Perry with a sharp leg side catch by Yastika Bhatia. Perry and McGarth added 84 runs for the 3rd wicket.
Alyssa Healy came to the crease along with McGarth with some lovely shots and kept Australian team on course for lead before tea break. Both batters survived few anxious moments as McGarth was reprieve with a review twice. Harmanpreet Kaur came into bowling attack dismissing McGarth hitting the stumps to get much needed breakthrough.
McGarth and Healy added 66 runs for the 5th wicket. Annabel Sutherland was lucky not be dismissed as Kaur did not ask for review while the other one was overturned for LBW. Annabel Sutherland and Ash Gardner struggled against disciplined Indian bowling. Kaur took the second new ball. Pooja Vastkar looked threatening in the final over as Australian women ended 3rd day at 233 for 5 with a lead of 46.
Jemimah Rodrigues dropped two tough chances to get rid of Healy. Kaur eventually dismissed Healy to bring back India into the game. The Indian team would look to take the remaining five wickets and chase down the target easily to win their first-ever Test match against Australian women.
