Team India batter Virat Kohli is gearing up for the second Test against South Africa, which kicks off on Wednesday, December 3 at the Newlands in Cape Town. He looked in sublime touch during the Indian net session ahead of the test match. Kohli also slammed Ravichandran Ashwin for a massive six in the nets.
The Indian team kicked off their first training session in Cape Town on Monday, January 1 ahead of the second Test. Kushan Sarkar, a PTI Journalist, shared a video from the practice session of Virat Kohli on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter). The veteran Indian batter was seen batting in the nets, facing the likes of Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, etc. Virat Kohli looked in good rhythm and control in the video. He timed a delivery well from Mohammed Siraj towards the mid-wicket region in the nets. He then smashed a lofted six off Ravichandran Ashwin, walking down the wicket.

Virat Kohli played a fine innings for India in the first Test match. He scored 38 runs in the first innings. He followed it up with a valiant 76-run knock in the second innings, including 12 boundaries and a six. Kohli was the top-scorer India in the innings, where they were bowled for a paltry 131 runs. The visitors lost the test by an innings and 32 runs.

Virat Kohli completed 2000 International runs in the 2023 calendar year during the Centurion Test against South Africa. He has scored 2048 runs at an average of 66.06 in International cricket this year, including eight centuries and ten fifties. This is the seventh occasion of him scoring 2000 or more International runs in a calendar year. With this, Virat Kohli became the first cricketer to achieve this feat. He has previously scored 2000 or more International runs in the years, 2012 (2186 runs), 2014 (2286 runs), 2016 (2595 runs), 2017 (2818 runs), 2018 (2735 runs), and 2019 (2455 runs).
