In a delightful twist during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) match featuring Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades, ex-Australian pacer Brett Lee showcased his fluent Hindi-speaking abilities.

While conversing with Indian-origin player Nikhil Chaudhary, who was on the field, Lee seamlessly included Hindi in the commentary, having a short chat with him. This pleasantly surprised the Punjab-based player, representing Hobart, who couldn’t resist complimenting Lee for his language skills.

“Nikhil, Brett Lee here. Aap kaise ho? Aap se milke khushi hui,” Lee said on-air, exchanging pleasantries in Hindi. Chaudhary, clearly impressed, responded with a compliment, “Your Hindi is too good, mate!”

In a unique achievement, Nikhil Chaudhary, the Indian-born player, has made a notable impact in the ongoing 13th edition of the BBL. Originating from Punjab, the 27-year-old cricketer has participated in four matches for the Hurricanes this season, demonstrating his abilities in both batting and bowling.

Accumulating 72 runs with a striking rate of 153.19, Chaudhary has showcased his prowess, and he has also taken two wickets in the ongoing match against the Renegades.

Enhancing the match’s charm, ex-Australian pacer Brett Lee conversed in Hindi with Chaudhary during the commentary. This distinctive exchange underscored Lee’s strong bond with India, a sentiment he has consistently conveyed throughout his career.

His connection extends to Bollywood, where he featured in the film “UnIndian” and collaborated with Asha Bhosle on the song, “You’re the one for me.”

In his distinguished international cricket journey for Australia, Brett Lee participated in 76 Test matches, achieving an outstanding tally of 310 wickets, including a best bowling figure of 5/30. Notably, he recorded 17 four-wicket hauls and 10 five-wicket hauls in the Test format.

Transitioning to One Day Internationals (ODIs), Lee featured in 221 matches, securing 380 wickets with an impressive best bowling performance of 5/22. He maintained an economy rate of 4.76, displaying an average of 23.4 and a strike rate of 29.4.

Impressively, he attained 14 four-wicket hauls and 9 five-wicket hauls in ODIs. Discussing T20 Internationals, Brett Lee played 25 matches for Australia, claiming 28 wickets with a best bowling figure of 3/23.

He maintained an economy rate of 7.86 and an average of 25.5. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2013, Lee participated in 38 matches, securing 25 wickets with a best bowling performance of 3/15.

Throughout these IPL games, the Australian pacer maintained an economy rate of 7.50, with an average of 43.8 and a strike rate of 35.0.
