New Zealand won the first match easily

New Zealand started the T20I series with a comprehensive 46-run victory. A superb run out by Adam Milne resulted in the wicket of Saim Ayub. Tim Southee looked impressive taking the wicket of Mohammed Rizwan.

The New Zealand bowlers kept picking wickets at regular intervals not as the required run rate was climbing. Southee was the best bowler on display with 4 for 25 in 4 overs while Adam Milne and Ben Sears took 2 wickets Ish Sodhi took a stunning catch to dismiss Fakhar Zaman.

For his quickfire 61 off 27 balls, Daryl Mitchell was named the player of the match award. New Zealand will look to continue their winning form as they will play Pakistan in the 2nd T20I match to be played at Seddon Park, Hamilton on 14th January.

Devon Conway could not contribute much as he was dismissed cheaply. Finn Allen kept the pressure on the Pakistan bowling in the first six overs. Williamson and Mitchell scored half-centuries to make life tough for opponents.
