Shamar Joseph played a key role in helping West Indies register a stunning 7-run victory in the 2nd Test match that took place at Gabba, Brisbane. Jospeh retired hurt while facing Mitchell Starc on 3rd night. He was not sure that he would take part but showed great resilience getting wickets of Green, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh, Alex Carey, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins.
After the dinner break, Joseph produced a stunning delivery to bowl out Hazlewood helping West Indies register 7 run win. It was West Indies’ first-ever Test win on Australian soil after a gap of 27 years. For his match-winning effort of 7 for 68, Joseph was named the player of the match. The series between Australia and West Indies ended in a 1-1 draw after the first Test match was won comfortably by Australia by 10 wickets.
Joseph made his Test debut during the first Test match at Adelaide Oval. He picked 5 for 94 runs in the first innings keeping West Indies making a comeback into the game. His batting contributions looked impressive with well-made 36 runs in the first innings at Adelaide Oval. He along with Kemar Roach added 55 runs for the final wicket.
Jospeh picked his maiden wicket dismissing Steve Smith and Marnus Labuschagne to put pressure on Australian batting. Joseph was named as a partial replacement for Gus Atkinson. The star West Indies bowler Joseph will remain with Peshawar Zalmi during the entire tournament. Atkinson is currently in the squad for the 5-match Test series against India.
Pakistan Super League 2024
Pakistan Super League begins on 17th February at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, and will run till 18th March 2024. Lahore Qalandars are the defending Champions as they have won the title during the last two editions.
Shamar has been signed by Peshawar Zalmi via the replacement draft. It will give exposure for the young West Indies pace bowler to play in a shorter format and gain confidence. He showed great courage during the second Test match making life tough for the Australian team.
