Shaheen Afridi played a crucial role in guiding Desert Vipers to a thrilling two-wicket victory over MI Emirates at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in the ongoing ILT20 2024 on Tuesday, January 30. In the last over, the Vipers needed 10 runs with only two wickets remaining, and the responsibility fell on veteran New Zealand pacer Trent Boult to bowl the final six deliveries.
Boult performed well, giving away only seven runs from the initial five deliveries. The requirement was reduced to three off the last ball. Expecting a full-length delivery, Afridi lifted his front leg and attempted a powerful slog. The ball caught the outside edge of the bat, heading towards the third-man area. Afridi and non-striker Mark Word quickly ran three runs, securing a two-wicket victory for the Vipers.
