On the 1st day of the second Test match, Jaiswal displayed dominance. Following the dismissals of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, Jaiswal took charge and delivered an outstanding performance.
Reaching his fifty with consecutive boundaries before the Lunch break, Jaiswal showcased his prowess by smashing Shoaib Bashir for a six over deep midwicket and capitalizing on a misfield by Rehan Ahmed. After a brief consolidation post-break, he revitalized the innings, forming a robust 90-run partnership with Shreyas Iyer.
Jaiswal exhibited increased composure post his fifty, purposefully unsettling the English spinners. Displaying determination in the 90s, he confidently approached Tom Hartley on the third delivery of the 49th over, dancing down the track and effortlessly sending the ball soaring into the stands over long-on.
Displaying aggressive intent, Jaiswal dispatched three consecutive fours off Hartley, propelling himself closer to the nineties. Subsequently, he achieved his century with a remarkable shot, dancing down the track to a loopy ball from Hartley, and smashing it over long on into the stands.

This marks Jaiswal’s second century in just his sixth Test, adding to his notable achievement against the West Indies last year. Notably, his current innings follows an impressive 80 in the first Test, where he fell short of a century after being caught and bowled by Joe Root.
Jaiswal’s cricketing journey gained prominence during the previous year’s IPL, where he emerged as the leading run-scorer for the Rajasthan Royals and secured the fifth-highest run tally in the entire competition. His standout moment included a remarkable 124 off 62 balls against the Mumbai Indians. This stellar IPL performance paved the way for his debut in senior Test and T20I formats in 2023, solidifying his status as a rising star in international cricket.
