Rachin Ravindra showed his class with a brilliant double century on the 2nd day of the first test match against South Africa at Bay Oval, Mount Maunganui on 5th February 2024. Starting the day on 258 for 2, Kane Williamson fell cheaply and added 6 runs to his overnight score of 112. Rachin Ravindra scored his 150 off 270 deliveries.
Daryl Mitchell showed intent on keeping the scoreboard ticking and did not allow the South African bowlers to settle. It was a superb batting effort by Rachin Ravindra with some lovely shots. New Zealand went into the lunch break at 330 for 3.
New Zealand lost 2 quick wickets to Mitchell and Tom Blundell in quick succession. Ravindra continued his merry way keeping the pressure on the South African bowlers. He reached his maiden double century off 340 deliveries. After reaching his milestone, Ravindra made the batting look easy hitting some lovely shots and keeping South African bowlers under pressure.
It was another dominating performance by the New Zealand team as they went into tea break at 475 for 7 with Rachin Ravindra dismissed for 240 off 366 deliveries with 26 fours and 3 sixes. Ravindra posted his highest test score after making his debut against India on 25th November 2021.
Rachin Ravindra made his mark with brilliant performances in the 2023 World Cup played in India. He registered the highest score by a New Zealand batter in Test matches on his debut. The previous best was by Matthew Sinclair of 214 against West Indies in 1999. He is a future star in the making and would hope to perform at his best in the longer format as New Zealand looks to dominate the inexperienced South African team.
Rachin Ravindra’s brilliance helped New Zealand post a massive 511 all out. In reply, Kyle Jamieson and Matt Henry ensured that the hosts are in a dominating position reducing the visitors to 80 for 4.

Maiden double century for Rachin Ravindra in his 4th Test after 8 hours of toil coming in to bat at
4 when NZ were 39/2 in the 1st Test V South Africa. A maiden century couldn't content the 'run machine' Ravindra so he turned it into a double💯
