The Indian Cricket Team moved to the second spot in the 2023-25 World Test Championship points table after their 106-run win over England during 2nd test match played at Vizag on 5th February 2024.
It was an amazing performance by Team India as they looked impressive with the bat posting 396 runs in the first innings. Yashavi Jaiswal was the top scorer with 209 runs. Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc among England’s batting lineup picking 6 for 45 and making sure that India took a lead of 143 runs in the first innings.
The second innings was a struggle as Shubman Gill was the top scorer with 104 while Axar Patel made 45 as India set a target of 399 runs in the second innings. R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah did the damage for the hosts picking 3 wickets each while Axar and Mukesh Kumar grabbed 1 wicket each Stokes was brilliantly run out by Shreyas Iyer. Indian team bowled England out for 292 with a commanding 106-run win to level the series at 1-1.
For his 9-wicket haul, Jasprit Bumrah was named the player of the match award. The series is equal at 1-1 with 3 matches to spare. Both teams would focus on 3rd encounter to be played at Rajkot from 15th February 2024 onwards.
Indian team has a chance to win go top of the points table if they defeat England in the 3rd Test match to be played in Rajkot. Before this match, the Indian team slipped down to 5th behind Bangladesh, New Zealand, and South Africa after their surprise loss to England in the first Test match played at Hyderabad.
Indian team would be hoping that batters come to the party and will see the return of Kohli, Jadeja, KL Rahul, and Shami into the squad for the remaining 3 matches.
