India’s U19 star Naman Tiwari expressed that Jasprit Bumrah is a source of inspiration for the youngsters. He recalled a piece of advice he received from the Indian pacer at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) which helped him to improve as a cricketer.
Naman Tiwari has been brilliant for India in the ongoing U19 World Cup 2024. He has picked up 10 wickets so far in the tournament, including four-wicket hauls against the USA and Ireland. India is unbeaten in the tournament and will play against Australia in the final. Ahead of the summit clash, Naman Tiwari spoke about Jasprit Bumrah to PTI,
“Bumrah is a source of inspiration for us. I watch his bowling videos a lot. I have met him several times at NCA and talked to him a lot about the mentality and skills of a bowler. He has explained a lot (of things to me), which is useful. He told me how to bowl accurate yorkers, and I have worked a lot (on that aspect) following his advice. I have to work hard to bring more aggression in this (my bowling).”
Jasprit Bumrah is now the top-ranked bowler in Test cricket. He powered the team to a brilliant win in the second Test against England, picking up a nine-wicket haul at Visakhapatnam. He is the leading wicket-taker so far with 15 wickets in the series.

India U19 cricketer Naman Tiwari further expressed that he tries to learn from bowlers that he admires a lot. He expressed that he watches Jasprit Bumrah’s videos to learn the tricks of the game. Naman Tiwari said,
“I try to learn something from every bowler I like. I try to understand and learn by watching his (Bumrah’s )videos. I like Shoaib Akhtar’s speed, Dale Steyn’s swing and Mitchell Starc’s aggression very much.”
