England skipper Ben Stokes is all praise for Indian youngster Dhruv Jurel, who led India to a brilliant win in the fourth Test of the ongoing series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi. India defeated England by five wickets and sealed the five-match series.
Dhruv Jurel made his Test debut in the third Test at Rajkot. He has been impressive in the two test matches that he has played so far. He scored 46 runs on debut and followed it up with a ninety in Ranchi. The wicket-keeper also stayed unbeaten in the second innings on 39 taking India home. Praising the Indian youngster, Ben Stokes said,
“I think both innings he has played very well. His keeping was also something to watch over there. I think Ben Foakes has a little crush on him there (smiles). There have been some talents in this series and Jurel is one of them. His score brought India closer to our score (in the first innings). “
Kuldeep did a great job as well: Ben Stokes
England captain Ben Stokes further credited Dhruv Jurel and Kuldeep Yadav’s 76-run eighth-wicket stand in the first innings, which helped India to get the first-innings lead. He also praised Kuldeep Yadav who performed well with the ball as well as the bat. Kuldeep scored valuable 28 runs in the first innings and also took four wickets in the match. Ben Stokes said,
“We found it tough to get anything out of the wicket at that time (during Kuldeep-Jurel’s stand). That was sort of the theme of the game. It was a little bit easier in the morning and tougher in the evening. Even Kuldeep did a great job as well. If we could have got a lead of over 70-100, who knows the game might have been different. We might have defended it or they might have still chased 240 given how that partnership was going (Gill-Jurel’s unbroken stand). Eventually, we did everything we could.”
