In an unusual occurrence, a dog briefly interrupted the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (March 24). The dog also crossed paths with MI’s recently appointed captain, Hardik Pandya, as he attempted to manage the situation.
The incident occurred during the 15th over of the Titans’ innings, with the dog entering the field after Hardik had bowled the first delivery of the over. It reappeared on the field again during the 14.3 overs.

For those unaware, Hardik is captaining MI after moving to the franchise from GT in an INR 15 crore trade deal. He has taken over from Rohit Sharma, who led Mumbai to five IPL titles. Hardik had previously represented MI from 2015 to 2021.
During the toss, Hardik became emotional about leading Mumbai at his former home ground in Gujarat and stated: “Feels good to be back. My birthplace is Gujarat, a lot of success came in Gujarat, very grateful to the crowd and this state. My cricketing birth happened in Mumbai, so really good to be back.”
Notably, Pandya guided GT to consecutive finals in the initial two seasons, securing a trophy in 2022. As captain, he achieved victory in 22 out of 32 matches.
