Delhi Capitals have suffered a major blow as star bowler Kuldeep Yadav will miss a few matches of IPL 2024 due to a groin niggle. Pant and Co lost their previous match by 106 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders at Vizag. DC missed the services of Kuldeep Yadav which resulted in DC conceding 272 for 7 in 20 overs.
Kuldeep Yadav missed the last two matches against Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders due to a groin injury. Delhi Capitals will take on Mumbai Indians in their next match on 7th April at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai. Delhi Capitals is currently at the number 9th spot and would be looking to come back with a superb performance.
“Yes, he (Kuldeep Yadav) has picked up a groin niggle and is advised to rest. I am not sure when he will be ready again, but he is resting now,” an official in the know told Hindustan Times on Friday. “There are plenty of matches to happen in this IPL so it’s good to rest for a few matches in the beginning as it’s World Cup year and there is no need to take a risk,” he said.
“No, he is not required to go to NCA as of now. Rest is just for precaution. He is already traveling with the DC squad and right now is in Mumbai where the team plays their next game against hosts Mumbai Indians on Sunday,” he added.
Delhi Capitals registered only 1 victory in the tournament so far stunning defending Champions Chennai Super Kings by 20 runs. Pant and Warner were the main contributors that led DC to post 191 for 5 in 20 overs. Khaleel Ahmed bowled brilliantly along with Mukesh Kumar which helped DC restrict CSK and win the match comfortably.
Kuldeep Yadav performance in IPL 2024
Kuldeep Yadav played only 2 matches in the tournament so far. He was brilliant in the opening match against Punjab Kings, picking 2 wickets giving away 14 runs in his 4 overs. Despite his performance, DC lost the match by 4 wickets.
The left-arm wrist spinner took the wicket of Jos Buttler. He was put under pressure by Riyan Parag. Kuldeep ended with figures of 1 for 41 in his 4 overs which left DC to give away 185 for 5.
