Experienced Indian cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma shared a friendly moment during the IPL 2024 clash between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at Wankhede Stadium.
The incident occurred in the second innings while Mumbai Indians (MI) were batting. Between overs, as Virat Kohli was moving to his fielding position on the opposite side of the pitch, he playfully tapped Rohit Sharma from behind.
Rohit responded by turning around and giving Virat a thumbs up and a nod once he understood the gesture. Fans delighted in the friendly exchange between these two renowned players, and the moment quickly gained traction on various social media platforms.

On the cricketing front, it was a disappointing performance for Virat Kohli and RCB as MI secured a commanding seven-wicket victory in the match. Kohli had a tough time with the bat, managing only 3 runs from 9 balls after RCB lost the toss and batted first.
Following Kohli’s dismissal, Dinesh Karthik (53), Faf du Plessis (61), and Rajat Patidar (50) led the charge, guiding their team to a total of 196/8 in 20 overs. However, it proved insufficient against a dominant MI batting lineup, who chased down the target in just 15.3 overs.

Ex-Indian opener Aakash Chopra assessed Virat Kohli’s batting strategy in the game against Mumbai Indians. He suggested that Kohli’s attempt to be excessively aggressive against Jasprit Bumrah led to his dismissal. Addressing the issue in a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra stated:
“When Mumbai won the toss and asked the opposing team to bat, they couldn’t bat that well. Faf du Plessis was there with Virat Kohli. We were discussing before this match as well that the focus will be on Kohli vs Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah had dismissed him four times before this match. Virat was his first IPL wicket.”
He continued: “Here it seemed like Kohli was trying too much because it is in his mind that they score 180-190 but nothing happens with that. So let’s try and aim higher. When you do that, it works against others, but it doesn’t work out against Bumrah.”
